FILM DISTRIBUTION

Philosophy

At IP we are constantly working on how to best serve you; the independent filmmaker.  A recent survey showed that the highest percent of filmmakers considered distribution to be the biggest challenge they faced.  The good news is that there has never been a better time to be a filmmaker because there are more distribution outlets at your disposal crying out for content than ever before.  The bad news is, there is more content than ever before vying for those outlets.

This is where IndieProducer has a leg up.  Collectively we’ve produced two $30+ million dollar movies (Agent Cody Banks 1 & 2) along with a few smaller budget projects (Perfect Match, a movie for Lifetime Television, and several DVD releases).  But two of our filmed productions (Mercy Streets and My Date with Drew) were produced through independent financing and distribution that we found ourselves.  Both of these movies received domestic (US and Canada) and International (everywhere else) distribution.  How did we manage to find distribution for our projects?  Contacts.  Pure and simple; it’s not always what you know in our industry, it’s often as easy as who you know, and who can you get to sit down and watch your film.

At our networking events and through your emails we too often hear the same theme “I thought finding the financing would be the hardest part of this battle”.  You fly through pre-production, maneuver your way through principal production without too much scarring and low and behold you have enough money to get through post and you think you’re done.  That’s when you discover the real struggle of the independent filmmaker is DISTRIBUTION!

IndieProducer is introducing a new service for qualified filmmakers.  Send us your finished films on DVD and a one time only handling fee of $150 and we will submit your films to our contacts in distribution for consideration.    The $150 will be used for IndieProducer’s miscellaneous expenses in submitting your film to distributors, such as duplication costs for your DVD, messenger fees, phone, fax and correspondence on your behalf.

If your film is picked up for distribution we will negotiate a 10% set up fee, but the deal points are entirely yours to make with the distributor.  If you cannot come to an understanding with the distributor and decide not to accept the distributor’s offer we will return the DVD to you along with all correspondence we receive regarding your film to you and our own recommendation if our contacts all pass.
